Title: Animals Models for Coffin-Lowry Syndrom: function of RSK2 in neuronal plasticity and behaviour ( IZKF).
Abstract: Up to this day there is not a thorough understanding of the etiopathogenesis of CLS. CLS is caused by mutations of the RSK2 gene, and these mutations can influence the normal functioning of these patients; the aspects that can be affected are physical, cognitive, endocrine, behavior, among others. Besides, it is known that RSK2 is relevant for the birth of new neurons in the developing brain. For these reasons our main goal is to study the role of Rsk2 in neural plasticity and behavior using Rsk2 KO mice. We planned to use different techniques that allow us to explore how the Rsk2 deficiency affects adult neurogenesis, behavior, neurotransmitters, proteins and gene expression. Moreover, we would like to see whether all these phenomena interact.
