Dissertation title: Common features and differences between musical performance anxiety and social anxiety
Abstract: Although a high percentage of musicians are affected by musical performance anxiety (MPA), MPA is not well understood. Literature has shown mixed results to the relationship between MPA and social anxiety. The present project aims to investigate overlapping and unique features of musical performance anxiety in comparison with social anxiety disorder which may introduce new options for treatment. Beyond questionnaire studies about predictors of MPA and social anxiety, there are included psychophysiological responses in the concert hall and non-musical performance situations in musicians as well as intervention studies with social evaluation as a target in interventions for MPA.
